The Left Angle Cross of Wishes (1)
The Left Angle Cross of Wishes (1) is one of four Wishes crosses in the Human Design system, and one of the Left Angle crosses grouped under transpersonal karma. It is built around the Personality Sun in Gate 3 — Beginnings (Mutation / Ordering), with the supporting gates of the Wishes axis completing the cross. The cross is not about pleasant daydreaming. It is about the raw, sometimes uncomfortable fact of wanting something deeply, and the willingness to begin again and again to honor that wish.
The Angle: Transpersonal Karma
Left Angle crosses operate through transpersonal karma — the karma of relationships, conditioning, and the unfinished business carried between souls across lifetimes. Where the Right Angle cross walks a personal destiny of self-fulfillment, the Left Angle cross walks a destiny that is fundamentally relational. The lessons here are not yours alone. They are learned in friction with others, in the mirror of partnership, family, friend, and stranger.

The Wishes Theme
The Wishes axis is the second of the four Right Angle / Left Angle cross families that share a thematic name. The Wishes are not idle fantasies — they are the felt sense of lack and longing that motivates a soul to keep reaching. They are desires that pull a person out of stagnation, and they have a particular edge: the Wishes are about what you do not yet have, what you have tasted and lost, or what you sense is possible but cannot quite grasp. They generate the inner pressure that begins new cycles of life.
Gate 3 in particular brings the energy of Beginnings into this Wishes cross. Gate 3 is the gate of ordering, of trial-and-error mutation, of the impulse to start something before the path is clear. Paired with the Wishes axis, the cross carries a charged impulse: the wish itself becomes the doorway to a new beginning.
The Life Theme
The overarching theme is the renewal of life through the courage to begin again. The personality is here to carry wishes that may not be fulfilled in any tidy, linear way. The wish is not a guarantee. It is a directional pull. Those with this cross are designed to feel wishes strongly, sometimes painfully, and to act on them by starting. They begin relationships, projects, movements, and conversations that they cannot always complete. The mutation lives in the beginning, not the ending.
The transpersonal karmic dimension means many of these wishes are not personal in origin. They are ancestral, relational, or carried over from previous cycles. This can feel like longing for something you cannot name, or being drawn into situations that feel "karmic" — familiar, heavy, and significant.
How the Purpose Unfolds
The purpose unfolds through initiation, not through holding or preserving. Life is series of beginnings, each one a small mutation, each one an attempt to order the chaotic material of desire into form. The work is to honor the wish as it arises, take the first step, and let the outcome be what it will. There is no guarantee of permanence or reward. The fulfillment is in the beginning itself.
