The Left Angle Cross of Incarnation (2) is one of six crosses bearing the Incarnation designation, each shaped by the cross's concern with how spirit enters form, how awareness becomes embodied, and how the soul learns through participation in the material world. The Left Angle and Transpersonal Karma

The Left Angle belongs to the 4th-line field, the transpersonal realm of relationships, networks, and the social fabric. Where the Right Angle cross operates through personal destiny, the Left Angle operates through transpersonal karma — the unchosen influence of others, the way we are shaped and shaped by the bonds we form. This is not a weakness. The Left Angle cross is designed to be in relationship. Its karma is to be open, to be available, to let the world in and let its impressions, encounters, and entanglements teach.

For this cross, transpersonal karma is not something to be avoided. It is the very medium through which the incarnation process takes place. Without the encounter with the other, the alertness of Gate 44 has no field in which to operate.

The Theme: Alertness in the Field

Gate 44, called Alertness or Practicality in some traditions, is the energy of watchful presence. It is the gate of self-preservation through awareness, an instinctive recognition of patterns both present and past. It is hexagram Kuo, "Coming to Meet," and it carries the memory of
