Solar Plexus Authority to Heal Creative Anxiety Blocks
The creative block rarely arrives as a wall. It arrives as a whisper, then a doubt, then a tightening in the chest. For someone with Solar Plexus Authority, that tightening has a specific shape. It is emotional. It rides a wave. It is not a sign that something is wrong with your creativity. It is your body speaking in the only language it knows.
Solar Plexus Authority is one of the four inner authorities in Human Design. It belongs to those who have a defined Solar Plexus Center, the triangular center sitting just above the navel. Roughly half of the population carries this center as part of their design, which means roughly half of the people picking up a paintbrush, sitting at a piano, opening a blank document, or stepping on a stage are navigating their creative life through a wave of emotional energy they did not choose and cannot control.

The Emotional Wave Is Not Your Enemy
The Solar Plexus center is a motor. It is a source of emotional energy that runs through six channels and connects to every other center in the graph. It is amplified. It is consistent. It is reliable, but never in the way the logical mind wants it to be.
If you have this center defined, you do not experience emotions in a straight line. You experience them as a wave, a series of highs and lows that move through you over hours, days, or even longer depending on the decision at hand. This is the design.
Creativity lives inside this wave. When you begin a new project, the wave will move. There will be a moment of high where everything feels possible, the work is alive, and the direction seems obvious. There will be a moment of low where the same work feels foolish, derivative, or pointless. Neither is the truth. Both are positions on a wave that has not yet settled.
The creative anxiety that blocks you is almost always an attempt to find resolution before the wave is complete. It is the mind trying to lock down a feeling that has not finished moving.
The Trap of Decision From the Peak or the Pit
Solar Plexus Authority is the slowest of the four inner authorities. It requires time. It requires the wave to do its work. The temptation, especially for creative people, is to grab the first impulse, either the surge of inspiration or the spiral of doubt, and treat it as guidance.
The high says, This piece is brilliant, I should publish it, I should show everyone, I should commit to this direction. The low says, This piece is nothing, I should quit, I should start over, I should hide it.
Both are emotional weather. Neither is clarity.
The not-self theme for emotional authority is impatience. It is the urge to know now, to feel settled now, to know if the work is good now. The signature, what you feel like when you are living correctly, is clarity. Not the instant knowing of a splenic authority. Not the talking-it-through feeling of a sacral. A particular equanimity that arrives when the wave has run its course and you can see the work from a quiet middle.
The Clear Moment
Somewhere between the high and the low, there is a moment where the emotional charge dissolves and the thing itself becomes visible. This is the clear moment. It is not a peak of joy or a valley of despair. It is closer to still water. The work stops feeling charged. You stop needing it to be a certain way. You can see what it is, not what you want it to be, not what you fear it will become.
For creative decisions, this moment is the one to wait for. Should I show this? Should I send this? Should I begin this next piece? Should I abandon the one in progress? None of these questions can be answered honestly in the middle of a wave. All of them can be answered in the calm that follows.
Sleeping on it is not a cliché for emotional authority. It is literally how the authority works. The wave continues through sleep. The clarity often arrives the next morning, or the day after, or the week after, when the water has stilled.
Applying This to Creative Anxiety
When the creative anxiety rises, here is what is actually happening. Your defined Solar Plexus is generating emotional energy in response to the creative act, and your mind is treating that energy as a verdict on your work. It is not. It is energy moving through you, looking for a shape.
The practice is not to quiet the wave. You cannot. The practice is to not act on it until it has moved.
Working through the wave means continuing the work without attaching to the feeling about the work. Write, paint, build, compose, design. Do not check in with how the work feels at any given moment. The wave will distort the answer. Trust the process of the making itself and let the emotional experience be weather in the background, observed but not consulted.
Deciding about the work, however, requires the wave. Showing it. Finishing it. Submitting it. Quitting it. Walking away. Returning to it. All of these are decisions for the clear moment.
Trusting the Slow Path
A Solar Plexus authority creative will never have the frictionless decision-making of a generator responding to a sacral yes, or the instant gut-knowledge of a projector with a defined spleen. The path is slower. The path asks for time. The path produces a different kind of truth, one tested across the whole wave, not just the crest of it.
The creative anxiety softens the moment you stop treating the wave as the obstacle. The wave is the mechanism of your clarity. The anxiety is just one position inside it. It will pass. The next one will pass too. The work waits for the middle.
That middle is where your authority lives. That is where the creative block dissolves, not because the doubt was answered, but because the doubt was finally seen for what it was, just weather, just a wave, just the body doing what it was designed to do while the artist waits for the still point and trusts it will come.
