Learn the basics of interpreting your Human Design bodygraph chart.
How to Read Your Bodygraph for Health: A Practical Guide
Your Bodygraph is not a personality test you scroll past and forget. It is an energetic blueprint - a map of how your life force actually moves through you, where it builds up, where it leaves you exposed, and where your vitality lives. When you learn to read it with your health in mind, you stop treating wellness as a guessing game of supplements, diets, and willpower, and start treating it as a relationship with your own design.
The Bodygraph Is a Body, Not a Mind Map
Most people approach the Bodygraph intellectually. They memorize gate numbers, recite channel names, and try to "figure themselves out." The mistake is treating it like a personality inventory rather than what it is: a schematic of your energy body. There are nine Centers, and each one corresponds to a real biological function. Read it that way, and the chart becomes diagnostic.

Calculate your chartThe Nine Centers and What They Govern
Each Center is a hub of specific life force. When defined (colored in), the energy is consistent, reliable, and operates the same way every day. When undefined (white), the energy is porous - it amplifies whatever it touches and is shaped by who you are with, what you eat, and how you live.
- Head Center - inspiration, pressure, pituitary function. Open here means you take in everyone else's ideas as your own, which creates mental noise and sleep disruption.
- Ajna - conceptualization. Defined means you process information consistently. Open means you think in many ways at once, which often masquerades as anxiety.
- Throat - manifestation, expression. The crossroads of the body. Open Throats speak a lot, but rarely say what needs saying.
- G Center - identity and direction. Defined means you always know who you are. Open means your identity shifts with your environment.
- Heart (Ego) - willpower and self-worth. Defined means reliable access to material drive. Open means you amplify others' drive, often burning out chasing theirs.
- Sacral - life force and stamina. Defined (Generator or Manifesting Generator) means sustainable work energy. Open means you borrow sacral energy from others and cannot sustain it as your own.
- Spleen - immunity, intuition, fear. Defined means consistent baseline health and reliable instinct. Open means the immune system is sensitive to your environment, and fear is borrowed rather than self-generated.
- Solar Plexus - emotional wave. Defined means emotions move in waves you can ride. Open means you feel everyone else's emotions, which physically destabilizes you.
- Root - adrenaline and pressure. Defined means consistent drive. Open means you amplify adrenal pressure, often misreading the "go" signal as urgency.
The Channels That Speak Loudest About Health
The lines connecting Centers are Channels, and specific ones matter most for the body:
- 20-34 Carneg - Throat-to-Sacral charisma. Defined means energy on demand. Undefined, the timing of speech and action is a constant question.
- 27-50 Preservation - The tribal immune channel. Defined means you can sense what nourishes and what depletes. Undefined, you learn this through trial and error.
- 32-42 Maturation - Hormonal and developmental cycles. Defined means clear life phases. Undefined, you ride others' timing.
- 44-26 Surrender - Liver and ego function. Defined means strong constitution and strong
